My friend Emily Carlson is applying for a $250,000 grant from Mission SmallBusiness. Organized by Chase and Living Social, Mission Small Business strives to help local small businesses drive forward to the next level of success. In order to be in the running for the grant contest, she must receive at least 250 votes. From there the grant committee will compare her application to the flood of others and will choose 12 lucky businesses to receive grants.

If you want to help Emily please go to www.MissionSmallBusiness.com, and click “login & support,”  enter “Solstice Stained Glass” in Chicago, Illinois, and vote. You will have to sign in through your Facebook account and accept a FB app – sorry – but we are grateful for your help. The deadline is very soon: Friday June 30th, so please do this today. If you don’t have Facebook, please consider passing this message along to your friends who do.

Emily’s business, Solstice Stained Glass, located in Chicago’s West Loop Arts District, is an amazing sustainable small business; a business that preserves and creates architectural stained and leaded glass. Solstice makes the functional beautiful by creating new windows and restoring windows that have endured for decades and even centuries. Solstice employs artisans from the local community, so it’s not only a sustainable business, but it is an important part of the local economy. Emily and I have been friends for nearly 3 decades and it is with great pride in her accomplishments that I invite you to support her  business in this small way.
